Pastor

Pastor Jonas Mark Hayes

Jonas was born and raised in the Midwest in Kirksville, Missouri – just blocks away from Truman State University. Initially, he experienced a call into the ministry in elementary school while accompanying his father (who is also a Presbyterian Minister) on pastoral visits.

His call into the ministry deepened when he was a student at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee as he served in campus ministry, as well as preaching and leading worship in small churches in the surrounding area of his college town.

Jonas studied English Literature at Tusculum (1999) and then completed a Master of Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary (2003)

Director of Music

Carl Granieri

Carl has agreed to be the Music Director for as long as it takes for us to find a permanent one.

He is a most accomplished musician, and a deeply committed Christian, who loves to serve churches when and where he can.

He loves to nurture musical talent in others and can’t wait to meet with our choir this week and work with them to sustain the wonderful progress they have made under Bob & Glenn.

Treasurer (Elder)

Jeff Witte

An Elder at Lely Presbyterian Church, plays a vital leadership role within the congregation, serving on key committees and as Treasurer. With an extensive background in commercial banking, he brings financial expertise and strategic insight to his church responsibilities. Jeff feels called to leadership by his faith, believing that God has guided the church through challenges and provided him with the energy to contribute meaningfully. He and his wife, Joan, share a deep love for travel and adventure, having explored all 50 states and beyond, engaging in unique experiences like rafting the Grand Canyon and herding cattle in New Mexico. A dedicated family man, Jeff has been married for over five decades, cherishing time with their children and grandchildren, even while mourning the loss of their daughter to cancer. Since becoming full-time Naples residents in 2020, Jeff and Joan have embraced their church community, joining Lely Presbyterian in 2021.
  • Role & Responsibilities: Jeff is a member of Session, the governing body of LPC, a member of both the Finance & Stewardship Committee and the Personnel Committee, and serves as the Treasurer of the Church. He also was chair of the Pastor Nominating Committee.
  • Background and Education: After graduating from college and earning an MBA degree, Jeff began his career in commercial banking, retiring from JPMorgan Chase in 2011 after nearly 40 years.
  • Personal Calling: Jeff believes strongly that God has been watching over our church home and provided guidance during some recent difficult periods. He believes God provided him the energy and enthusiasm to assume a more active leadership role as we worked through some of the challenges we faced.
  • Personal Interests: Jeff and his wife Joan enjoy traveling, having been to all 50 states, plus traveling abroad. Jeff enjoys adventure, having rafted through the Grand Canyon, gone Heli hiking in the Canadian Rockies, and herded cattle at a ranch in New Mexico. Jeff and Joan also traveled to northern Canada to see the migrating polar bears. They both enjoy biking, walking, golf, and getting together with friends.
  • Family: Jeff has been married to his lovely wife Joan for 53 years and they have two children and two grandchildren. Unfortunately, their daughter, who was married, passed away from cancer in 2018 after a 14-year battle. Their son and his family live in South Carolina. Jeff and Joan sold their home in Pennsylvania and became full-time residents of Naples in 2020.
